04 / CONFIDENCE

Built quickly?
Make it trustworthy.

Someone else made the software. Perhaps an AI helped. Now it needs to work reliably when real people depend on it.

INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING JUDGEMENT

From promising prototype to dependable system.

Vibe-coded and rapidly assembled systems can make a compelling first impression. We look beyond the demonstration to find out what is safe to keep, what needs repairing and what nobody has tested yet.

01

Sense-check what exists

Compare the delivered behaviour with the real requirement. Inspect architecture, code, dependencies, data handling and operational assumptions. Make hidden risks visible and prioritise them.

02

Sanitise and secure

Remove exposed secrets, fix unsafe access paths, address vulnerable dependencies and tighten input and output handling. Security is considered in the context of how the system is actually used.

03

Prove it behaves

Add tests around important workflows and failure cases, check the data it produces and verify that a change does not silently break something else. Close the gap between “it runs” and “we can rely on it”.

04

Take it forward

Refactor the fragile parts, document the decisions and put a sensible maintenance path in place. We can continue to develop and support a system you did not originally commission from us.

Useful without the blame game

AI assistance and fast prototyping are valuable. The aim is not to criticise how something was made; it is to give you an honest technical picture and a safe path to using it.
